"Side Shows"

There are those times when fly fishing takes on a little more meaning. Those outings when you might be prospecting a new stream, or revisiting a section of a familiar stream. It may be one of those days that seem perfect for catching many trout and it turns out to be a bust. At these times you may stop and put the rod down and look around. There are those wonderful things that prove to make a so so day into a memorable one.
This little white mushroom looked at first glance to be a scallop shell.
And these colorful ones. Life surviving of of the dead.
I stood for a spell at this small woody debris dam. I imagined how the water flowing heavy and deep produced a highway for the trout moving upstream. Its waters causing a deeper seam both for protection as well as a resting and feeding lie.

And how a "Bomber" still manages to bring a wild trout to hand.
So even if the catching is not so great, the "Side Shows" are worth the price of admission.

Do you have to use some stealth to fish some of the outstanding streams? The Brook as always is beyond nice. Thanks for sharing

  4. How are you feeling about the water levels? Here in MA, it feels like they are at mid June, maybe even late June levels... pretty wild to see the water be at such levels this time of year. That new home page pic is amazing - what a pretty spot! The act of fishing is a cure, catching is just fun!

    1. Will,
      Thanks.
The water levels here are low. The good thing is the weather is cool, with temps getting in the 40's at night. But we do need an inch or three of rain.
It a spot that put you in a peaceful state.

  5. I'm amazed at how many people do not take in their surroundings. They sure miss a lot.

  6. You're so right! Many things I've seen or that has happended during a fishing trip, that maybe doesn't have anything with fishing to do, has made my day. I agree with Shoreman - a lot (if not most) people miss out on the things that for others become sherished memories. Nice thoughts Brk Trt.

  8. It might be that the fishing is the excuse to be out in the middle of so much more. It's all good!
