Spring Is Here

Spring is a season that runs a very close second to my favorite season Autumn. Yesterday we took a walk along a beautiful wild trout stream. A quiet cool day with plenty of sunshine. We were looking for some of the true signs of Spring the ones that appear and tell you it's here. Well we found some of them and they did what they always have refreshed the mind and soul.

A pristine wild habitat.

One of the wonderful sights of Spring, Trillium in bloom.

A special sight, brook trout lying at the back of a pool waiting for an insect hatch. They waited for a few moments to allow me to take a photo and scattered to a safe hiding place.

  3. Great pics , part of what I love about small creeks is the chance to really "read" the water and pick out those secret little holes where the fish are hidden away. I can see a couple of those type spots in your pictures and it really makes me wanna get out and hit my favorite little creek.

They can use every bit of stream to evade capture. Wonderful guys.
By the way I've seen some fiddleheads.

  5. Wonderful stream! I love it when everything seems to come alive again. The spring here is late since we had snow falling today. Strange weather but spring and summer will come. Thanks for sharing encouraging pictures with us all.
    Have fun enjoying the spring,

Snow, you are hardy people. But that makes the rewards of spring and summer all the more pleasant.

  6. Hi Alan........I was in Norwich, CT this week and as I made my way down Route 395 all I could think about was there were small streams in there that I need to explore.

I looked at my GPS and saw plenty of waters that ran parallel to 395 and wondered if those streams held trout. What is your take on these streams?

I really need to get a license for CT, NH and ME.

    1. Ed,
      Thanks.
There are quite a few nice trout streams in the Norwich, eastern CT.
There is a great book that's published by the Thames Valley Chapter of TU named Trout Streams of Eastern Connecticut. It's a valuable reference.
