Days Not So Far Away
We fished yesterday, and to say the day was bleak was an understatement for sure. The air temp was in the thirties with a good breeze, the skies were cloudy and snow was blowing around. I probably should have stayed home and watched "The Waltons". But the one thing I got from yesterdays outing was the realization that better days are on the horizon.
Those wonderful days of Spring. When the color green is paramount. Those days when wild brook trout are looking up for their meals. Those days when a "Bomber" drifted brings repeated strikes. Those days when eating a sandwich streamside becomes so enjoyable. These days are not so far away friends.

Good idea....I'll noodle with it.
It won't be long now....April 1st can't come soon enough (for at least those of us who live in NY).

Good to hear that buddy.
I consider March the official beginning of Spring (although you couldn't tell by looking out my window at the foot or more of snow still blanketing the ground). At least this time of year the nice days start to outnumber the cold , ugly ones...that's a start.

There are times when that snow will hang on, but it's days are limited.
Ahhhh, the Waltons, my favorite TV show of all time. I can't hear the theme music from the show without a wave of nostalgia washing over me. It takes me back to a time when I was a young father, and the horizon seemed so far, far away. Every Christmas my sister gets me a new season of the show on DVD. And Liv was kinda sexy in a plain sort of way.

We probably have watched every episode countless times, and we still enjoy.

A fine time to be up north. Some pre spawn brook trout.

ReplyDeleteAbsolute stunning images--I find as I get older I seem to have developed more patience to wait for the weather to get more to liking before I actually make the move to start my fishing season. My season will begin after my California trip with my son this week. My hats off to you and all the other guys who brave the temps and conditions to get that early take on their favorite fly, and that would be the "Bomber"---I can't close without giving a shout out to the Walton's which brings back so many memories of my early years--thanks for sharing

I should really pick better days to fish. I fish that Bomber every time out.
Here's to looking up, Alan!
