These photos are of my many days walking the woods trails in the mountains of Maine. Many of these trails cross some of the most beautiful streams in New England. I can recall almost every brook trout I've had the pleasure of bringing to hand. I can recall all of the places posted here like it I was there yesterday.
I hope you will enjoy the magic of Maine's brook trout forest.
nature's glory.

Bill we had at one time a spot picked out for our retirement cabin on one of those mountain tops, then a few second thoughts took hold. It is a beautiful vacation place. I'll be waiting for your report.
Absolutely stunning Alan. No more words are needed.

Tom the area is all lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, mountains, and it's hard to pick out one that's more beautiful than the other.
Hopefully I will get to fish Maine some day! After seeing these pictures, it has given me some motivation to try to make it up there next summer. Those stream and mountain pictures are beautiful especially that stream with the fallen birches, but what steals the show is that brook trout. That is certainly one of the top five most gorgeous fish I've ever seen...absolutely stunning!

Jonathan if you are serious about wild brook trout then Maine is the place that should be #1 on your list. That stream with the fallen birches is typical, and most times you'll see more moose than people. That brook trout came from that stream.
Happy trails my friend. Hope to fish with you soon.

ReplyDeleteVery nice post, Alan, on the trails in Maine. I've just returned from 8 days of fishing for brooks and landlocked salmon in Maine, and know what you mean. While camping at Rangeley I even met Kathy Scott and her husband David. Bought a copy of her book, the one that you reviewed a while back.
