Hemlock Brook, A Return
I wrote about this stream back in February when I first visited it. I went back last week for a little walk, with fly rod and camera. Now it's your turn to experience "Hemlock Brook"
Happy Easter and thanking the Lord for our beautifully colored swimming "easter eggs"! Also very thankful for the wonderful community of people that write these blogs, respond to the blogs, and make these so enjoyable. Blessings to you all!
Great post as usual Alan. The stockies are slowing down. Caught only 2 yesterday. Might be they're getting schmarter or more likely their numbers are down dramatically (white bucket brigaders are taking their toll). Looking forward to tomorrow's hostina (feast). Kielbasa, shunka, sweet/sour kapusta and of course bobka and walnut rolls and poppyseed rolls. And perhaps a small nip of Bekerovka after dinner. Naz dravya alan.
John Dornik Thanks John I think they are now fished out. Sounds like something I would love. We usually get a bobka from a local Ukrainian Church, but missed the order date. Martin Rosol's fresh Easter kielbasa, pierogi's, ham, and pasta and meatballs.
Beautiful photographs of both stream and the wild gems that live in them, Alan. Don't you love when they get hooked in the lip for a quick and easy release? I had one Thursday night that took a parachute adams so deep the barbless hook was in the top part of the gill plate. Sadly I had to take that one home.
Parachute Adams Thanks Sam most times they will unhook themselves. An injured fish is something we all experience and it can't be helped. Taking it home and enjoying it is just fine.
Alan ! Looks like you found another beautiful small stream. I love the last picture of the trout lilies! I haven't seen any myself yet this year. Happy Easter!

The re-do is even neater than the original, and I didn't think that was possible. Those are just lovely wild fish.

Those brookies are beauties. Stream looks like it is flowing very well !! You do find some beautiful waters to fish!

Pete the stream was just about perfect, the brookies were perfect. I was able to access the stream thanks to the landowners.
