The Artistry Of Armando
A week or so ago I did a post on what I like to do on some evenings. Listening to some music and tying flies perhaps enjoying a good book along with a cup of coffee. In the comment section after that post a comment made by Armando Milosevic peaked my interest. He said he like to draw sketches in that quiet time we all treasure. I responded to Armando I would love to see some of his sketches. He responded and sent me quite a few. I was so impressed with his work I asked if I could share them with the readers of "Small Stream Reflections"...the OK was given. I would like to point this out first. The readers of SSR's are anglers, fly tyers and lovers of the outdoors. And while the objective maybe to catch fish the readers of SSR's appreciate other aspects of angling and that includes some fine art.
A bit about Armando, he hails from Tierra del Fuego. He is an angler an fly tyer. I first met Armando on Chris Del Plato's Streamer List many years ago where streamers were featured by many. Since then he has commented many time here and other sites. Polite and informative with a "hug" at the end. In the months ahead I will feature a sketch of Armando's and it will be the photo right after the comment section.
I know Armando. Visits NCT regularly. Quite the artist from what you posted above.

What a great post, Alan. Armando sketches as well as he ties. Beautiful stuff. I'd love to see a collaboration between you two...

Mike he is quite an artist both with his streamers and his sketches. I'd like to one day get down there to fish...only a dream though.
thanks Alan for such a flattering introduction, and thanks also to the guys who share this entertaining blog that you bring with so much love and effort. The first photo you see of "Coiron" is a replica of your streamers, the one you blogged on the 25th of September 2014, do you remember? ...
ReplyDeleteBy the way you believe in dreams ..! I tell you that I met a fly tyier through Streamer List, Mr. Julián Muñoyerro, is from Spain, it was also a dream to meet us ... until in 2015 we traveled with my wife to Spain, and we met finally with Julian. Maybe one day you can also come to Tierra del Fuego, I'll be waiting for you.
Thanks for sharing.

Armando I do remember that Black Ghost post. It is a great streamer fly and I'm certain you have fished it as have many others. I would hope one day to visit and we will see.
Some wonderful sketches!

Pretty good and detailed.
Alan, I too appreciate artists and what they contribute to culture. Fly fishing art is such a fulfilling niche in the fly fishing community. Community is one of the many things I enjoy about Small Stream Reflections.

Matt fly fishing is art. Be it that perfect cast made to a selective wild brown. A crisp tied Catskill dry fly, a loosely dubbed spikey nymph. The simplicity of a north country spider...it's all art and we are all artists in some way....we have a community here and the bonds made here are special.
I think I've died and gone to streamer heaven! I know that we have two of the very best in our midst! Alan and Armando!
ReplyDeleteAlan, below you have posted a wonderful picture of our dear friend Bill Shuck. Thank you for that! This pic pretty well sums it up when it comes to Bill! His death still stings but his legacy of grace and talent and friendship lives on! This pic goes a very long way to remind us of this great mans legacy! This cheers my heart and again, I say thank you!

Doug Armando is very talented when it comes to fly tying. He can also draw what he ties and does that very well.
Bill contributions into my life were profound. He had a special way of giving information in a way that no one ever has. I would have loved to have shared a few hours with him.
