Anticipation, again....
I have been some what lax in my duties here at SSR's. I have not written a post in 4 days and that is not like me for sure. It seems a cold has been boxing me for about two weeks. Not to brag now but I think I put the fellow down on the mat for good. Today I will set out to fish a stream, perhaps the one that's pictured here. A lovely place with a some what gentle walk and easy access to the stream. A few things in my favor today are the weather and an overwhelming desire to fish. Now if things turn out OK I may even have a few fish take my fly. I'm going to fish that Rio line today which I'm looking forward to.
The stream has many like this guy swimming within its confines. A good soft-hackle may fool him.
Last night I tied this soft-hackle. A Tups blend of dubbing and a dun hackle. Is it ready for prime time? We shall see.
Hope you have/had a great day. By the time I get out this coming Friday it will be 3 weeks for me.

Bill I had a super day. Not fishing is very tough. Reading is fine but it's better when you know you can get out and fish.
I believe that "Good Luck" is in order.

Mark it was, and so happy I got out. A new man...
Glad you're feeling better. A walk through the woods will do you good. I'm looking forward to your Rio review. I love trying to come up with the perfect Tup's dubbing; making dubbing blends is almost as much fun as fishing them.

Mike the woods and stream were so helpful. I feel so much better. I think I got the formula on Sparse Gray Matter. It's looks awesome when wet.
Hi Alan, I hope you have improved from your flu, when we have physical ailments, it is best to tie up flies like the one you show here, improve that you have to go fishing. A hug

Armando I feel almost a 100% now. I did some tying but the ambition just wasn't there.

ReplyDeleteGlad to know you are on the mend; that wild fern really sets a stream off along the clean banks. The Rio line produces a smooth cast as it travels through the guides, you will be impressed. I know you will have a successful outing--thanks for sharing

Bill that photo was taken in the fall, and lots of ferns were still green. I like the Rio so far.
Glad to hear you are feeling better, Alan. I look forward to your report on your outing today.

Sam it was awesome out there for a few hours. I'm like a new man. I even had a few fish take a swipe at my offerings.
Fishing renews me, Alan. Having a few fish go for our flies is a bonus. So glad you got out.
DeleteSam, as humans we need that renewal from time to time.

Good to hear you are feeling better after knocking out the cold...... Also glad to hear your fishing was good (there is something to be said for the restorative powers of the outdoors!).
ReplyDeleteOnce again we have record rainfall and floods here in the UK. Not sure whether or not I will be able to get out before the start of the trout season next month. In the meantime, your post's keep me sane........
Thanks

Alistair "restorative powers of the outdoors" so true.
It seems you have had a very rainy winter. Maybe some moderation will take place so your spring trout fishing will be prime.
