Below are a few more photos from readers. Enjoy
Streamers for salt water. These were tied by Geof Klaine from Massachusetts.
An old Wheatley fly box. Rod from the blog Dry Fly Expert provided the photo. I love the tweezers.
Mike J. sent this photo of his "old" dog...one last time, and success.
Bill Shuck's tying desk...Ray Tucker photo.
Kirk and Mark on one of our New Year's Day fishing days.
I enjoy these photos. I've never used a purple fly but perhaps I will give them a try next spring. Thanks for your blog, I check for it every day.

Dave purple is a color that some swear by and others swear at. Try some and see where you fall in the mix. I like purple...

Mark I appreciate the comment.
That Wheatley box with the tweezers is wonderful. I'm going to have to ask Ray if he has a photo of Bill Shucks bookcases; I'd love to see what Bill had been reading over the years.

Mike the vintage fly boxes are always good to see. There are usually stories that go along with them that are also interesting. Ray has some great photos.
Alan,
ReplyDeleteSuch an enjoyable post! I almost cried when I saw Bill's tying table! Such beautiful works came from that modest room!
Alan, I too am enjoying everyone's photos that you have been posting as of late! It helps in drawing all of us closer together in our common passions, tying and fishing! Thanks for doing this!

Doug I can only imagine the flies that were created there. I only wish I had the pleasure to meet Bill in person.
I have some more "others" photos that I will share. Snowy here in CT.
And....Your Henthorne Purple above is sooo good looking! It just has to be a hunter like Mike J's "old" dog! I do miss "Grousing" a bunch!
ReplyDeleteDoug, there are many of us who love the shotgun, game birds, and fine dogs. CT is not a grouse state but woodcock and pheasant always kept us busy.
DeleteThanks for the photos and the great comments! Brought back memories of the brittany spaniel (orange and white) that we had when I was a kid. She loved grouse hunting.
