In the Spring of 2004 issue of Fish & Fly magazine is a wonderful article written by the late Datus Proper. It is about fly fishing for wild brook trout in the Shenandoah National Park. Datus was an angler who has fished all over the world, but his true passion was fishing for these little trout of the springs, and especially in the Spring as the woods again came to life. He writes of the times on these streams and of some of the people and history of the region. If you have or can access a copy of this article you'll truly enjoy it.
Looks like you and Mr. Proper share a similar passion. I would love to fish in a place like that. I'll be fishing for the "brook trout of warmwater species," the Redeye Bass, in some similar looking habitat in the next few months... about as close as I'll get anytime soon.

ReplyDeleteAlso I have taken small largemouth bass from a few streams, and their dark green colors are spectacular.
