Memorial Day 2011. Thanks to all who serve, and all who have served.
My wife and I spent this day enjoying the day and each others company. We accomplished a few things that needed to get done, then we took the rest of the day relaxing, and enjoying a cookout.
We got our two tomato plants in. It's an Italian thing.
The rest of the day.
Simple salad
Baked beans
Grilled spare ribs
I am now enjoying the SOX on radio. It's the only way. Baseball is a radio game.
It sounds like you had a very nice day.
ReplyDeleteI am watching the Sox on NESN and they just tied up the game. I also enjoy listening to the game on the radio when I am in the car. Enjoy the rest of the game.
Enjoy the game. Couldn't agree more about baseball being a radio game...some of my best memories of my dad are of the two of us listening to the Twins on the radio when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteRibs...beans...and salad...perfect dinner!
Ed,
ReplyDeleteGreat day. I to enjoy the NESN broadcasts. Don and the RemDog, good guys.
Sanders,
Thanks. We have the Twins Double A farm team here in New Britain, The Rock Cats. Some very good players have come through that team.
Sounds like a great way to spend the day. Cooking and planting with the wife. Nothing better than that. Great pics, umm and I will take some of those spare ribs overnight delivery style :)
ReplyDeleteSeems to me that Memorial Day is a peaceful, civilised way to say thank you.
ReplyDeleteWe have Armistice Day on November 11th, a very solemn day to remember our fallen dead.
Methinks we too could do with day like Memorial Day to say thank you to those who serve and have served...
Regular Rod
Trout Magee,
ReplyDeleteThanks. Those ribs are on the way.
Regular Rod.
We also celebrate Armistice Day, now called Veterans Day.
We went to a parade in a small neighboring town , pop. 1400, many flags, fire trucks, logging trucks, Boy and Girl Scout troops, VFW members, a middle school marching band and a ceremony in the town square recognizing the sacrifices of those who stood on the line for us. Then a family boat ride and island exploring. it was a great Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteSounds like time well spent for sure.
ReplyDeletepenbayman,
ReplyDeleteIt seems you had a full day. I love small town parades, they are so true.
Kev2380,

ReplyDeleteBruce,
ReplyDeleteI've seen your garden, and it looks like some good eating on the way.
