I can wait....I hope.
It's 6 AM and I'm drinking my second cup of Nantucket. The weather, as I look out the window is much the same as it has been for some time. My mind has been wandering for cooler, crisper weather. A time for small stream Autumn fishing.
I'm not a guy who likes to rush things, especially time, but I am tired of this hot, humid stuff. It's like getting kicked in the stomach daily. I haven't fished a small stream in some time, and it's taking a toll. I may have to walk along one and check things out.
"Oh those days" when the air is clean and so clear. When a morning frost covers all that is in shade.
To be able to walk along a stream and see beauty everywhere. Let your eyes focus on anything....
When your dry fly is cast upon the water and finds an eddy behind a stone. Suddenly a brook trout rises and takes.
I can wait for this, for I know it will come.

I couldn't agree more, I too am ready for some cooler weather. NC is hot this time of year, but at least we have had some extra rain this year which keeps the fish happy happy happy

That heat beats the hell out of us. We are OK right now on rainfall, but it's soon needed.
Alan - I'm a big fan of fall and look forward to it every year. It's the most wonderful time of the year... as the song goes

Agreed. You love wild brook trout as do many who follow, and there is no better time to seek them than Autumn.
oh, this was almost cruel...

For most of us.
I took my boat out Friday morning. The air temp was 82 the water temp was 77. There was no relief at all out on the Sound. I can wait for fall, as each season holds its own special place. At least the Yeti cooler I got as a gift is getting a lot of use.

Usually there is a bit of a relief on the sound, but not lately.
Hope the tropics stay quiet, with those water temps in the sound, they make great fuel for those hurricanes.
Looking fwd to the fall as well. The color of that last brookie looks perfect against the autumn leaves!

Most small stream guys would agree.
I guess I'm not the only one who has thoughts of fall creeping into their mind these days.

No your not buddy. I'm ready for apple harvest time.
Me too Alan. I feel like I've really been beaten up by the heat and humidity. But lately here in the north we've had some relief for the past few days. Raining now. I'm thinking a day trip to a small, western Maine, mountainside stream might be in the near future..

Mike, it's raining here too. The humidity will drop and the nights should be cooler.
That trip to western Maine sounds good.
