Close Ups

There are times when the camera and the subject seem to work so well together. It's these times when some wonderful photos emerge and here are a few of those photos. I hope you enjoy them.

  1. Your wonderful cropping really creates stunning images. As a new FF, I admit that I'd buy that fly in the first image just to put on my hat. "Almost" too pretty to use. But......

Bill several people would do the same..put it on a hat, or frame it and that's OK. Myself I would fish it once then do the hat thing.
I hope your name is Bill and it's OK to call you that.

  2. You make me proud of the small trout I catch on the weekends. When I start fishing with a net again, maybe I'll be able to manage some photos.

Chris you should be proud of the small trout you catch. Just think of the little waters they inhabit.

  4. Beautiful colors displayed in those close ups, Alan. Amazing what colors pop up when one zooms in. For example, a very silvery brook trout I caught recently had many red spots that were shown when I cropped the picture close.

Sam some of the photos I take come out lousy, but parts of it are very good when I crop it and use what is best. Some very lovely features show up when you crop as you have found to be so with your own photos.

  5. Alan, your images are wonderful, I never get tired of seeing them. My question is do you store your images so that you an access them later or do erase them after awhile. I know if I was taking those photos I would create a library for them. A whole book of photos like that would sorta be a autobiography of your fishing life. That would be a book worth seeing. Thanks for the photos.

Brad I keep many of my photos, erasing only those that are not very good. The photo book-journal is a good idea. A project for a winter evening.

  9. Nice pics Alan, especially like the properly finished head on the streamer,so many spend the time to tie the fly but cant be bothered to finish the head properly.

Believe it or not but the head is always the toughest part. When you stop to think about it your tying in so many feathers, floss, tinsel and such and to get it to fit so compactly is an achievement.
