A few weeks ago I reported on a stream I fish. The day I fished it I caught just one brookie in the time I fished it. You can read about it in this post..."Troubling For Sure" October 23, 2019. In that post I said I would return in late November to check on the stream, but it had bothered me so much that I could not wait to return. So last Tuesday I went back and a different picture was painted. It was a cold morning and the stream was pushing water. The very first run I fished I had multiple strikes and a hookup. Moving upstream I had similar results, many small brookies in a very hungry state.
Most of the brookies were of similar size. As you can see this female was a bit thin, obviously spawned and starting to feed heavily again.
In a quiet pocket I hooked a big male, maybe 12" I had him in focus but not time enough to click...
I was thrilled to see this stream alive. I don't know where the brookies were the last time out but they are back.
As a deer hunter stuff like this gets you pumped. Big boy here.
Great news on that stream being alive with trout again, Alan. You have to wonder where they were, maybe grouped up in one particular zone for spawning the last time you were there? Nice to see that deer rub that you came across. I have woods in back of my house and a couple of bucks were really going at the other night, though it was too dark for me to see them. I could clearly hear them fighting though with antlers making contact for a good 15 minutes.

I can't figure it out, but I'm sure glad they are back.
I guess spawning can do some strange things.
Sam that battle out back of the house must have been interesting. Walking one time in Tunxis state forest I came upon some moose activity. It looked like a bull dozer went through.
Great news about the stream! There could be any number of reasons they were not around last time out but no reason to worry about it.

Pat it seems for what ever reason the stream was off that day it's all back to normal now. I was really concerned about it.
Stream seems a bit fast vs your usual slow moving creeks although didn't seem to be a catching problem. Nice going.

Mark it certainly was moving that day. There is a lake upstream that feeds the brook. They are in the process of drawing it down now and that adds to the flow.
With the size of that scrap yes it's a big boy!

Kurt I was out for a while today and found some others. Not quite as big but the bucks are active. Let's hope it holds until I'm on my stand.

Mark I honestly don't have any idea where they were. It was a barren stream. I know they have places that they prefer to go when spawning, but there are always fish to be had. I'm glad they chose to return.
