"Olive Emerger" |
2021 will be a year when all anglers will fish soft hackles...spiders will be in vogue. The purist will join the ho hum. The gentleman will return to the streams and rivers, quiet will be the word. Going forward we will be able to get out more or at least try. Skunk will take a back seat and simple coffee will fill everybody's cup. So with this I wish you a very happy and safe 2021....
Brk Trt, right back at you with a Happy New Year! Good buy 2020, and hello 2021....Phil

Phil we will have a great 2021.
Happy New Year Alan - best to you and yours in 21!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Alan,
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else, 2020 has taught us to appreciate the simple things we often take for granted. Somehow I get the feeling we'll experience something special we when hit the streams this year.
Stay safe,
John V.
Alan,
ReplyDeleteWe always hope the new year will be better than the last. 2020 certainly did not set the bar too high. Let's hope 2021 soars over it.
May the streams be well watered and the trout always be rising.
So long 2020 bring on 2021.
Happy New Year all.
JJ
Those are a couple of artful ties Alan. Going out today. I did make a resolution to fish more soft hackles in '21.

ReplyDeleteI have very little to add to 2020 which was good. The Soft Hackle is the fly for me fishing on the Sipsey in 2021! Happy New Year!!
Yes to soft hackles, wee soft hackles, and coffee-flavored coffee! I'm prepping now to seriously extend my season beyond even shoulder-season armed with Syl's Midges and a couple of flymphs. Almost ready to test snow camping. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAlan,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family.
Mike
Trout season opens in the Driftless area tomorrow. I'm meeting a friend in Wisconsin Saturday and another one in Minnesota Tuesday. This winter I'm going to play with perdigon flies (size 16 and 18) on my Tenkara rods. I hope all of you, who follow this blog, have a great 2021.
ReplyDeletePitch perfect post, Alan. Love those emergers! Here's hoping everyone has a better year this time around.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Alan. 2021 has got to be better. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Alan,
ReplyDeleteA goodbye to 2020 can't come soon enough..........
Here's to 2021 and (hopefully) better things ahead!
Managed to get one last trip out today before we head into 2021, but the rivers were still cold, big and coloured and I only managed just a couple of half hearted takes. Still it was good to get out into the crisp air with snow and ice on the banks all the way down to the water's edge.
All the best, stay safe and take care
Alitair
Happy new year to you and yours...a hug ....
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Alan and all SSR aficionados!

Alan, Now it's 2021 and here's hoping for big improvements. Keep posting and brightening my morning reads. All the best and stay safe, John
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Alan!
ReplyDeleteAwesome opener Alan!
ReplyDeleteThe words you said above certainly ring true especially within my own family! It's been a rough year with illnesses running rampant both associated with the Corona virus and others too! I especially liked what you wrote about spiders being in vogue! And, coffee! Please lead the way Alan on both fronts!
Wishing you and all this crew a gracious and blessed New Year,
Dougsden
Now that 2020 has ended, we can all hopefully look to this new year with optimism. I try to ignore the doom and gloom that is daily fed to us. Friendship and love are still important. While I can see some logic in "social distancing" and many of the other COVID19 restrictions, it is a term that I think is alien to most humans. I've always been a handshake or hug person. We'll eventually get back to this.
ReplyDeleteFishing spiders, coffee, quiet serenity and gentle men/women returning to the streams are good starters. Sharing a slow cooked brisket is another.
Thanks for all the bright and uplifting times on Small Stream Reflections in 2020 and earlier. A shining light in times when we all needed a lift.
Happy New Year to you, Alan, and your good lady, Jeanette as well as all the SSR followers.
Steve.
Alan, a happy and healthy 2021 wished for you, Jeanette, and your loved ones. I like your predictions for 2021 and hope they all come true!
ReplyDeleteBest, Sam
Alan, the same to you and yours. All the best, John
