For Your Library/ Reading Enjoyment

While they may directed for streams in the East , or New England they are worth mentioning because of their accuracy, and exceptional detail.

The Thomas Ames book Hatch Guide, gives detail of hatches, dates, nymph stage, emergers, and the adult. The photos are in sharp color and easy to read. A lot of research went into this book and with its modest cost should be in your library.

It's highly detailed, easy to read, and great photos.

The book Trout Flies and Flowers is another well written and detailed book.
Its text tells of the flies that will be on the waters when certain flowers are in bloom. There are color photos of the flowers along with photos of the flies. It also has some other useful info such as where to fish the flies, riffles, pools, and in what water levels to fish them in.

I would reccomend these books. They're enjoyable and informative.

  2. Brk Trt,
Two very good books. I might also suggest Thomas Ames most recent book "Fish Bugs" a coffee table book with large, amazingly detailed photgraphs of our favorite seasonal New England flies.

  6. BT,
I didn't know of his other book. I will check it out.

Savage, it sure saves an awful lot of trial and error.

Kiwi, There's a great deal of ammo in those books, for Tenkara conversions.

Ed, I know you'll gain a great deal of help from it. And it's small enough to carry stream side.
