"April Fooler"

About this time of year in the lakes the smelts and alewives will soon begin to spawn. They seek the fresh water streams to  renew their populations. These movements of forage fish will draw an interest from trout and landlocked salmon who also inhabit these lakes. This is a pattern I crated to represent these forage fish. It can taken for a smelt or an alewife. The name given to it "April Fooler" is also what I hope it will do.
"April Fooler" Hook, Martinek Rangeley Streamer.  Body, Orange Yarn, "Picked Out".  Belly, White Calftail.  Underwing, Peacock Herl, Dyed Red.  Wing, Two Silver Badger, followed by Two Olive Saddle Hackles.  Shoulders, Silver Pheasant.  Cheeks, Jungle Cock

  6. Nice blend of colours. Would be nice too see how it looks in action in the water. It'll probably live up to its name.
Have fun fishing this new streamer,

  7. That is an outstanding streamer! I don't think it would have any problem getting the attention of some very large trout. Nice job.
