Good "Eggs" and a Nor'easter

Here's a couple of good eggs. On this day after "What"....oh well. Here's a sunny side up good day.

Just about a week after Sandy we here are being slammed by a nor'easter. It's bringing snow, rain, sleet and winds. Perhaps we can blame former storm Sandy for this second mess. By the way those are free range eggs from a farm in Burlington, CT.

What a difference a few days make. Fishing in somewhat comfortable weather.....

And a few hours ago...taken from my deck. It's good that I took my four mile walk earlier.

Here's something that makes me feel so good. The grandkids were down last evening for supper. After the eating was done they retreated to the "fly room". Morgan sat at the vise and created a streamer that was going to take that bass she saw last summer at the boat. It was a marabou streamer. Unfortunately I was not able to get a photo.

Ethan was checking out some neat stuff. A mini multi tool with a LED light. It's on the "list".

So I'll try to stay warm and dry, and hope this storm spares those who are worse off.

  1. Glad to see you're making out OK. We just got power back after about 8 days. Man it was cold at night without and heat. I'm happy were able to get it back just before mother natures latest curve ball. Next week is supposed to be in the upper 50's low 60's....crazy stuff I tell you. I'm happy to be getting back to thinking about fishing and blogging and the normal routine. I hope everyone out there will keep in mind that there are still a lot of people suffering from Sandy and can still use help.

I really don't mind it. Snow helps the that all important ground water. It just seems that the snow comes earlier now.

  6. I wanted to try and get the boat in before this weather hit, but the beaches and ramps have been destroyed. Luckily I did not have to work today so i had a great breakfast too. Stay warm and enjoy the inside time.

  8. I saw the eggs and knew right away they were free-range, not those pale ones in the grocery store. This year my wife got some chicks. We ate the roosters, and they were delicious. Her little flock of free range hens are laying 8-12 brown, blue, or green eggs a day now. And as a bonus is that I can pick up all the soft hackles I want, moulted feathers on the ground and in the coop.

That's great. The egg takes a bad wrap. They're wonderful especially free range eggs.
      Great source of hackle.

  9. Haven't lived there in a couple of years, but Burlington did have some good eggs. Also had some pretty good maple syrup too.

Time to find some hand and toe warmers for winter fishing!

    1. I love diners too.
Have you ever been to O'Rourke's in Middletown CT?
I keep trying to get there on my way back from NYC. It was featured on Diners, Drive bys and Dives (a great show on Food Network) and looks like a great place.

    2. Ed,
I have eaten there many times, that is before the fire. They rebuilt the diner and I have not been there since. They have a hell of a great St. Patricks Day dinner.

    3. They mentioned that and talked about the fire and how people took up collections to get it back.
Maybe my next trip to Hartford........
