"Copper River"

"Copper River"
A featherwing pattern that looks like it could be a fine landlocked salmon streamer when used in Autumn. It's tied on a size 6, 6xl hook and would make a nice casting streamer.

  1. Absolutely gorgeous fly. May have to try it, though I could only hope it would turn out 50% as nice as yours.

By all means do try it. They are not as difficult as they look.

      Thanks.
The colors seem to flow nicely. As far as fishing it, I have not tested it as of yet, waiting for the fall.

  3. Nice job Al! I was tying last night as well. Tied some of those black flies & more of those streamers with the Arizona minnow hair. Hoping for a break in the heat soon.

    1. Apache Trout,
      Thanks.
Those black flies should be working well with this heat cranking out ants and beetles to beat the band. I've been thinking of that stream in your neck of the woods. I can't name it but Paul Newman had a hand in its preservation. I've got to get back there.

    2. I'd wait till fall on that one, full of ticks & snakes. The pipeline pool nearby might be worth a visit.

    3. AT,
I could deal with the ticks, but the snakes are a turn off...I'll wait.
