"Genesee Jewel"

The fly was originated by Mark Libertone to represent the wide range of cream colored insects that hatch through out late spring and summer on the Genesee River. The fly is also an excellent attractor pattern.

Hook, TMC 100BL size 14...Tail, White Hackle...Body, Cream Dubbing...Rib, Fine Pearl Tinsel...Wing, Wood Duck...Hackle Cream Hen Back.

  1. Pretty fly...that would be a great pattern to use around my neck of the woods when the sulphurs are coming off. They always appear as a whitish mayfly with clear wings which that pattern would imitate perfectly!

Jeff we have several of these white flies that come off our waters. And this is a good copy.

  4. Mark once gave me several of his Genesee Jewels and I'll never forget how productive this pattern was in late spring. I wrote of this experience in my book River's Edge, and even recall catching a big crayfish that somehow couldn't resist the neat pattern!
