A post about my last few outings. The weather was great, somewhat chilly, but this is March. The stream has been hot on and painfully slow, I guess the trout can be finicky even in a small stream. On a couple of trips I had the company of like minded anglers, both Pete aka TROUTI and Kirk aka FSH NUT have had success and that makes it all good. This stream holds wild brook trout and browns but the catch has been all browns for me. Well the calendar says it's the first day of Spring, only it's going to snow at some point today...oh well New England. Maybe a few hours of fishing today, then home to a plate of spaghetti.
Handsome. They can put a bend in a glass rod.
Pete...a quick snap and release. Nice brown.
This fellow took a soft-hackle dry.
Who in the hell could cast a fly in here? I know who. Not only cast in there but also come out with a brown on the fly. Nice outing gents.
Beautiful, as always, pictures Brk those fish are little gems.

Pete a little fresh air, some walking and a few browns...not much better.

ReplyDeleteIts always good to fish with guys who love the sport as much as you do. Colorful brown, did it come from the overgrown bank area pool? Yes it took a little precision to make a cast in that tingled web. Thanks for sharing

Bill actually he came from the pool in the first photo.
Places like that tangled mess always hold fish but sometimes the cost is to much.
Alan,,are all the trout wild in that stream.i use to steer away from those difficult spots to fish until I found out that's usually where the nicer trout are. I sorta look forward to the challenge now.sometimes the biggest challenge reaps the biggest reward. Thanks for the trip.

Brad all trout in that stream are wild. It's a Class 1 wild trout stream.
Your quite right on those challenges.
Awesome as usual.

Mark fishing is seldom anything but awesome.
I know for sure that the tangled lines part of my name would apply on that water. I used to have a different definition of small streams until I saw the water you fish. Hope that brown grows up to be a pole bender.

Nice going again Alan. It looks like you have been taking advantage of the warmer days lately! I am looking forward to when the season opens up and we can start visiting some of the streams that have been off limits.

Mark those warmer days brought out some hungry trout.
A few more weeks and we will be back in business.
I don't know how in the world, Alan, you got a fly amongst that pile of brush. That is surely where the nice ones hole though. Well done.

Sam I would not cast a fly into that mess, but Pete did. As you stated that's where you'll find a fish.
Really nice looking fish as always.

Ben the browns are starting to loose some of their color, but are still very pretty.
Very nice write up, Alan. I'd try my best to cast in that lay down. I'd also loose a fly or 2 before I gave up. Those trout have some beautiful colors and surroundings.

Justin no doubt you would loose a couple flies in that tangle, as would I, but the reward in there is usually quite nice.
