As I see it.....

Many times while fishing I spot a beautiful creation, that is a beautiful natural creation. I'll gaze at it for some time and then I'll take a photo of it. A lot of these photos will wind up in some folder never to be shared. Well I have a few that I would like to share with you with the effect being to be able to put you in that peaceful frame of mind that you'll need in the days to come.

Weather....ice or rain. Does it really matter?

Some pretty nasty thorns. My there is a curious visitor looking on

.
An eastern cottontail?

Jeanette and I took some time Friday to decorate a small evergreen for wildlife. Popcorn, raisins, apples, carrots and lots of nuts.

How about a hot cup of cocoa with whipped cream....

  1. Alan - there is beauty all around us everyday if we just stop long enough to see it. Thanks for the reminder!

Mark that's for sure. As you well know it's not just the fish.

  2. Our aesthetic tastes are just about identical, Alan; we see beauty in pretty much the same places. BTW, props on the bunny ... unless they saw it hop in there, 98 out of 100 folks would walk right by without even noticing it.

Bill I would say that most folks see the things we do but their minds don't process it like we do. Seeing rabbits is one of my specialties, being Italian we love them in many ways.

Bill we try to resupply that tree several times during the winter. Hot cocoa is so comforting.

  4. Hot chocolate is a staple whether it's Winter or camping in the Summer when you have a cool night. Yeah, whipped cream not marshmallows.

Mark sometimes I melt some dark chocolate into the mix.
      I prefer whipped cream too.

Tom I try to give you the perspective from the way I see it. Most people who enjoy the outdoors will get something from each photo. At least I hope they do.

George as I mentioned in Tom's comment. Each can take away something from the photos.

  7. Hi Alan
Thanks for sharing the pictures from the environment around your streams.....
I hope nature has a good feast on the tree that you and Jeanette decorated.
My two boys love hot chocolate after a good long walk this time of year - especially with cream AND marshmallows!

Alistair I'm sure they enjoyed the offerings. Last year we put cranberries in the mix and that was all the left. I guess they didn't like them. Hot chocolate is so relaxing.

John it sure is. Most don't see it that way.

  9. Beautiful photos, Alan. While I appreciate seeing the beautiful fish you catch, the surroundings you travel through to get to them are beautiful as well. What a good place for that cottontail to be hiding out, amongst those thorns. I bet grouse take advantage of that type of cover too.
    Best, Sam

Sam the walk and the stream can make your day a success even with out a fish.
Rabbits like that thick stuff, as do grouse and the woodcock. The latter I flush more than the grouse.
