"Resolutions" Better Yet "Requests"
Good morning friends. 2020, a new year, a new decade and some new changes in the works. It seems that every year about this time we all put forth our resolutions for the new year. Most of us are well intent on making them stick and some of us actually keep them longer than a week. I will say I'm in that crowd that usually keeps the one week resolutions. So what I'm going to do this year is to call a resolution a request. The thought is that a request may be easier to keep. Well we shall see. One of my requests will be to cut back on my egg consumption. I love that hen fruit. I usually have eggs 3-4 times a week, and that is at least 2 eggs a sitting. Goal half that amount. How about a mushroom, pepper, onion and cheddar omlet.
I have to get control of this area. It's so bad that I tied up a dozen bombers for a gent and I lost several of them on the desk. It's at a point where I have two of everything tools included just so I can find them when needed.
Here is a request for your new year. Get a copy of this book. This is written by a truly genuine person. It details more then fly rod building it details life. Erin Block is gifted in many ways but her ability to master words is remarkable....."salt on watermellon"...
Sunday Jeanette and I were out and this stream came to mind. I have been here many times but have never fished it. The request is to change that come May.

Well we are going out for lunch today with some friends and I'll probably have a similar omelet with a side of hash browns. That resolution is going to be tough compared to the others.

50 you had better take advantage. We here have been somewhat milder then normal...payback is certain.

Btk try, I know your thoughts like a lot of people such as me when it comes to eggs. But further research about eggs and cholesterol. The cholesterol particles in eggs are larger and don't clog/clot up like a lot of other foods we eat, so the cholesterol factor isn't as unfriendly as originally thought. The nutritional value in eggs far out weigh the unhealthy.

Well Phil you just made me feel better. I guess some research that's out there combats all the bad press we have seen on eggs. Happy 2020 buddy.

Will I'm going to try to stick to them. As for the desk that in the works as I write this.
No resolutions in NorCal. The tying desk is bare with the exception of the printer because the 40 inch monitor takes up all of the desk. I still don't know how you fish with all those trees. I'll check out the book.

My bench has a life of its own. It waits until I turn the light out and go to bed and then it turns into a Twilight Zone episode. I wake up and expect to see one of those airplane gremlins jump out of a pile of feathers. Eggs... can't live without them, good luck with that one, Alan.

Being a farm man I knew you would favor eggs. What's your thought on "plant based meat"?
If it would provide another much needed source of income for small farmers I'd be all for it. As for eating the stuff... well, I'll stick to the real thing, thank you.

DeleteI like the way you put that. Our beef has always been grass fed, so yeah, I raise 'plant based' beef. That's a good marketing angle...

I'm not sure she maintains a blog any more. I have read a few articles she has done in the past for TU and were published in TROUT magazine. Maybe someone can bring some light.
Alan, that's funny you mentioned eating fewer eggs, because I want to consume more. As much as I love eggs, I haven't had chickens for some time now & have a difficult time willing myself to buy them at the market. One tip for you is I've been seeing those little 4" 1-egg fry pans around. My only problem is I'm very picky about the non-stick coatings that are on them. Best wishes for best fishes.

Matt most markets offer "good eggs", and there seems to be local farmers that offer eggs....my daughter has chickens and we benefit.
I can appreciate your caution on non stick coatings. I have a nice cast iron pan, the only thing it cooks poorly are eggs.
I've considered getting a cast iron fry pan. I've had my mom's collection of stainless Revere Ware USA pots & pans from the 1960's. I think they are older than me & will never part with them.
DeleteMom's pans from the sixties...I'll bet there was some awesome cooking going on in them. Hang on to them.
