While in Rangeley, Maine one year I saw this book in a small book store I was in. At first it didn't look like much of a book to read. As I browsed through it it got more interesting as each page was turned. I purchased the book, and it went in the stack of reading material we had a the camp we stayed at.
One rainy evening I sat down to read it, and I enjoyed it. It's full of history from the "old days" in the Rangeley region. The original book was published in 1876.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if the old-timers that we see in the photos with long strings of killed trout or salmon realized that they were enjoying the end of the golden age of fishing? I for one freely admit that I am jealous..By the way Brk Trt..Lovely streamers!

I don't think they could have visioned what was going to happen.
Did you tie the streamers? I came across an old book at a sale once. It has several plates of flies and is pretty interesting when concidering the time it was published. I should put it up in a post someday. The plates of the old flies are cool.
