Iron Horse

The Iron Horse a symbol of what was part of Americas transformation. It is a symbol of strength and power from the simplicity of steam.

This is not a post about trains, but of a streamer. It to gets in strength from a few simple ingredients, and hopfully it has the power to persuade a trout to take it.

The simple material list, Mustad hook, a few white and Coq de Leon hackles, some yarn, pheasant feathers and Jungle Cock.

"IRON HORSE"

The weather beaten piece of bark was picked up on an old abandoned railroad bed.

They're not as difficult as you think. I'm sure you could do a fine job on it.

  3. A great American tail, and darn good looking streamer. It is quite the enjoyment to tie flies, let alone create patterns. Keep them coming.

    All the best

It's such a gratifying past time. You can allow yourself to be as creative as you want, as I'm sure you know.

  4. Great looking streamer...reminds me of a bleeding baitfish pattern. I can't imagine too many fish species that wouldn't jump all over that one!

I never realized it looks just like a bleeding bait fish. That gives me an idea.

I have to admit I don't fish a streamer much, but I have been told that larger trout are lurking below the pump station where I fish on the tailrace. ------there is only one glitch I have to use the steamer to get their attention????-----any suggestions??

Go for it Bill. I suggest a Black Ghost, Black Nose Dace, or perhaps a big Matuka.
