The "Blonde Series" and Good News For Brook Trout

If you read this blog on a regular basis you'll see I have a fondness for the State of Maine. I believe they have available to the angler the best wild brook trout fishing in the United States. I have fished there for at least a quarter century and only scratched the surface of the small streams available. Maine has done considerable things to restore, and protect these fragile habitats. In the current issue of S.A.M. news it tells of another contribution the state, as well as other conservation groups have made to protect a pristine area. "Bravo"

I'd like to introduce to you the "Blonde" series of flies. They are in the testing stages, and so far it looks good.

The first one is the wet fly, called the "Wet Blonde"

This one is called the "Classy Blonde". It's a wingless dry fly. It's tied in a classic style.

The third fly is the "Blonde Bomber". Tied in the Bomber style, with yellow wing.

And if your not sensitive to spice, you may want to enjoy this spicy hot omelette.

  1. I like the Blonde series. Curious about the dubbing. I like the omelet, too, but it doesn't top the simple bowl of cherries and rod and reel by the stream. Now that's art.

    1. Jim Yaussy Albright,
      Thanks.
The dubbing on the wet, and dry is Wapsi superfine Light Cahill.
The Bomber is a special blend I purchased from the Catskill Fly Fishing Center.
      That was a great photo.

  2. Great looking flies! I especially like the "Blonde Bomber" , it just looks like something that any self-respecting brookie couldn't refuse.
I think I could handle the omelet but I'm not so sure about the side dish of roasted pepper!

Jeff so far they are approving. The pepper can be a bit much at times.

  3. Blond flies, uncharted territory. Besides the blond got $50 for painting the porch, but told the owner that it was really a Ferrari. OK, sorry for the blond joke.

That thread base matched with the thin dubbing does the trick.

  6. The Omelette looks really good. I believe you will catch countless fish off of your fly. For my fishing in LIS I find white to be the best color.

It will probably be a good fly during sulphur activity.

Those three patterns are awesome, I am always partial to lighter color patterns with of course some red or orange mixed in. I think the brighter colors in most fly patterns are excellent attractors. Thanks for sharing

      Thanks.
Those lighter colors are easy for these old eyes to pick up on the water.
The brookies seem to key in on that orange under body.
