Images

Here are a few images that are kind of special to me. I don't think I've shared them before. I hope you like them and if you really stop for a few minutes to look at them I'm sure you can relate to them and probably put yourself in them.

What makes a man do this? Perhaps photo number one is the answer?

A wild trout stream in Potter County PA. A reader sent me this photo.

Jewels in the stream.

A gentleman I meet once a year at a fly tyers gathering. Always a pleasure to chat with him.

Where will I be cast, and what will be to outcome?

Chris that photo came out great. The brookie spit the fly and was just sitting there.

  5. Beautiful pictures, especially the last one. I always look forward to reading your blog, thank you. I just came back from fishing a similar looking stream, minus the ice thank the Lord. Made up for the last two outings where I got skunked, brought six beautiful Brookies to the net.

Mike that last brookie took the EH caddis in late December. Six to the net, that's great. Weather has been kind.

  6. Incredible pictures, Alan. The first one with the brookie in hand and the bottom that looked like gold mesmerized me for a while. The picture of you drifting a fly in that crease of stream amongst the ice, well buddy that is dedication and persistence. I salute you.

    Best, Sam

Sam you call it dedication, others say insanity. I like your all. They all pretty much say something, which can be said of most of our pictures. Sox are on a roll....

    3. Nothing like hearing the crack of the wood bat squared up on a 90+ mile per hour pitch. Most especially nothing like feeling that connection back in my playing days, though that was not frequent enough. I liken connecting with a trout in the same way.

  7. Hi Alan
It has got to be number 3 for me as although 1, 4 & 7 show the ultimate results of our efforts, number 3 demonstrates the true beauty of our pastime!
Thanks for sharing these amazing pictures.

Alistair while bringing a trout to hand is the ultimate goal, it's the act of fishing for and where trout are found that appeals to most of us.

  8. Allan,
"Jewels in the Stream" is amazing! The clear waters of a mountain stream invokes in me the thought of liquid diamonds. Look how fantastic it is when some rubies are mixed in.
