Green And White Plus Orange,Red And Blue And......
Have you ever opened your eyes in the morning a a particular image or images popped into your eye sight. I'm sure many of you have experienced such a thing. This morning as I started to get out of bed the image of a flowing stream in the month of June grabbed me. That image led to another and another. It was a time of renewal, warmth and promise. Those images stayed with me through my first cup of coffee, and are so strong now that I write this blog. I wish I had the words to describe that feeling but they are not available. So I'll trade the words for photographs and hope you can see the feelings that I can't put into words.
Have a great day.....

We all deserve a morning filled with images that are positive.
Spring can't come soon enough.

Mark an early spring is a good thought. But the reality it ain't going to happen. You know what makes a person feel good this time of year is to grill a hot dog.

ReplyDeleteThose are some absolute stunning images of what makes fishing small streams special---including the fern covered banks and that special milk/brown streamer.
P.S. Speaking of streamers can't wait to see Jason's face when he opens those streamers on Xmas morning. A friend of mine does framing; had them framed and doubled matted---Have to send an image of him---Thanks for sharing

Bill the fly is actually a wet fly, a "Genesee Jewel"
Bill you must get me a photo of those framed flies.
It is always a pleasure to see your beautiful pictures, Alan. They are a good reminder that winter won't last forever, though it seems that way at times! Also, props to Matt Harding for that great picture below of the sea run cutthroat trout. One can sense the power in that spotted chrome trout just looking at it.

Sam I had such a wonderful outing today. The most beautiful little brookies in a sparkling stream. Dry flies were crushed.
Matt also gave me a photo of the fly used to take that trout. I'll do a post on it soon.
Great to hear you had good action today, Alan. It sure was windy! I am glad the trout cooperated and you got the flies where you wanted them to land. I look forward to reading the report.
DeleteSam, I was able to fish before the wind became to bad. I left about 1. Today is about as good as it will get in the next 4...
DeleteHi Alan, I'm more than happy to leave the stream fishing to others on these cold and windy days. The wind makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI just received some authentic snowshoe hare feet from a friend. What a marvelous fly tying material. I tied up some "Fran's Usual" patterns and you gotta know they will take trout, big time.

John I'm not fond of a cold wind but luckily I was able to get my fix in before it got real bad.
Your fortunate to get such a gift. They tell me snowshoe hare is rare in fly shops. Fran's creations will take trout most everywhere they're fished, and the Usual is right on top.
The wind chill is down around -10 below as I write this. All that beautiful June scenery is a long way away; but hope is never a bad thing.

Mike reading that temp made me put on another flannel shirt. June day's are needed in December.
Oh man, the vibrancy of the foliage is amazing in these pics... While I enjoy all seasons, those greens really struck me today, as I stare down the barrel of 5-6" of snow with a little sleet / freezing rain coming tomorrow.

Will we are all in for a messy Tuesday. It looks like your in for more snow, here it's 1-3....fingers crossed everyone stays safe.
Alan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for a little dose of June. It might not be but that looks like a hard creek to fish.
Matt's cutthroat is just an awesome looking fish.

Joe it has it's moments but a few adjustments and all's OK.
They must be a strong fighting fish. Most trout that spend time in the ocean can be quite a challenge.
Alan - What a pleasure to see those pictures this time of year. Thank You!

Armando the fly is a brook trout pattern. Many fly tyers have a variation of the brook trout. I'll bet you do to.
