Halloween, 2012
Have a Happy Halloween. Take the time to enjoy it especially if you have kids. Have a cup of cider and a donut, or perhaps a cupcake and a pumpkin spice coffee.
Some of "Sandy's" work. Compared to what others received from this historic storm it's almost minor.
My thoughts and prayers are with those that suffered so much from this storm.
Some down time fly tying. These are a few caddis patterns, variations of a pattern Kirk ties. He uses woodchuck guard hair for the wing, I used elk hair. "Down Time Caddis"

Hope yours was great. The storm spared my town.
Hi Alan......I was wondering if you were severely impacted by Sandy. I am glad to read you came through ok.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the cupcake has me off to the bakery.
Enjoy Halloween with your grandchildren.

We are OK, how did Boston fare?
I hope you found a nice treat at the bakery.
We were very lucky because we got mostly rain and some gusts. Thanks for asking.
DeleteI did not get a cupcake but I did get a very nice Boston Kreme muffin at the Gingerbread Construction Company in Wakefield MA. If you are every in the area, then make it a point to go here: http://gingerbreadusa.com. Their stuff is as good as it looks.
Ed,
DeleteThat's good to hear. If ever I'm in Boston I'll look you up and we'll both have a Boston Kreme muffin.

I'll check it out.
Those cup cakes look great. As for the storm, it was pretty bad down here. The coastal flooding and erosion was severe. All of the water front communities wont have power for a long time. Good luck with the flies They look great.

I just viewed some still photos of Fairfield County and it's a disaster.
Take care.
I like your pumpkin spice coffee idea...and I'm digging those caddis. Glad you escaped the storm safely.

It's a welcome flavor change from the regular Joe.
The storm pretty much placed its power along the coast.
Glad you're around for another Halloween. Nice ties!

Howard I'm glad too.
Happy to see all is well as could be expected. Where are you getting a good Woodchuck to tie with?
ReplyDeleteMel Moore,

Things are OK. I buy the woodchuck from a local fly shop. I also have a few skins from a local hunter.
Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteglad to see you are safe.

Brk Trt,
ReplyDeleteI/we were spared the effects of Sandy out here in the Berkshires of Mass. A lot of wind damage N & S of me, but luck was on my side this storm.
I really like those caddis you tied up. Nice way to pass time during a storm like we had.......Phil

Did you receive a lot of rain?
Tying is a wonderful past time.
I like both the caddis pattern and the wonderful front page picture. You really do capture the essence of fly fishing in those fish colours. Well done.

Sometimes the photos just turn out right.
Glad everyone's OK. We were thinking about you out here in the West. Nice tie!
