"Grace Burn"

Today I'll be fishing this lovely stream. I along with Steve who actually is the angler, will show you the beauty of small streams throughout this world. This is "Grace Burn", it runs through Healesville Victoria, Australia. I'm told that in a stretch of this stream that flows by a bakery there are a few wild brown trout. So lets find out.

Steve is an angler from Australia who is a reader of Small Stream Reflections. Last week he sent me a photo of one of the most beautiful wild brown trout that was taken from the stream pictured above.

Upon seeing it I requested permission to share it with you.

The brown trout from "Grace Burn"...he was fooled by a nymph fished as a dropper with a "Royal Humpy"...the colors as well as the spotting are gorgeous. This is a fine example of small stream wild trout. I hope you have enjoyed a look at some beauty from "down under"....thanks, Steve.

  3. I would have never thought Australia would have a trout stream like that. Very nice brown for any small stream. Thanks Alan for sharing those photos, very nice.

Sam I enjoy the photos too. I used to get some from Japan and the beauty in those mountains were awesome.
Sam on another front it's been raining quite nicely here for about six hours. It will surely help.

    2. Any and all rain is appreciated at this point, Alan. Hopefully August will be cool and rainy. We received about a quarter inch where I live. Northern counties got some good down pours.

  5. Amazing! It's absolutely awesome to see pictures and hear about fishing small (or any water really) streams in places so different from your own... At least you think so, until you see pic's and are amazed at some of the similarities. Then it becomes amazing to enjoy seeing how folks in other parts of the world fish. We have much more in common than not!

Will seems like trout do live in faraway places. And their locations are beautiful. Isn't fly fishing great.

  6. I'm heading for the airport as I type this. Australia can't be that far away. Just kidding. Beautiful Brown for such a small stream.

  7. Thanks for sharing Steve's side of the world and the beauty that small streams give as their prizes. I have some friends who, quite some time ago, fished Australia and brought back great stories and pictures of beautiful waters and nice Trout. If we could just fish anywhere we chose.....
