Well it's September first, the first day of Autumn, meteorological Autumn that is. The actual day is the 22nd of the month. I for one am very happy to see August go. Around here it has been one nasty month with hot and humid days and scant rainfall. But as I sit here typing this post it's raining and that is a good sign for the start of the "Glorious Season".
The pictures in this post are of what we have coming. The changing of leaves, pumpkins, tart and sweet apples and the awesome deserts that are made with them. These are some of Autumns specialties. But the one thing that epitomizes the season is the brook trout. In Autumn he shows his finest colors, and can be hard to duplicate by anything in nature. I for one am happy to see September, for the changes it brings will be welcomed.
I agree with you Brk Trt!! I for one am done with the hot August we had, and am looking forward to fall!!The colors on that brookie are just stunning!!

Pete it's time to refresh. Autumn brookies are awesome.
I'm with you, Alan. I couldn't be happier to be moving on to a cooler and hopefully wetter September! Hopefully a particular brook / brown trout stream I have been dying to hit will get a recharge soon. Regards, Sam

Sam I hope after this weekend, if the rain comes you'll be able to fish that stream. Fingers crossed buddy.
I'm not usually anxious for Fall, but I think this year I'll make an exception. I'm looking forward to some splendid weather and some fishing.

Howard this past summer was rough all over. To much heat for far to long. Change is good and welcomed.

Alan,
ReplyDeleteWow! These are current pictures? Not from last season? It seems so "fall-like" where you are! Here in (southest) Ohio, things are still green and somewhat hot. This evening, it feels like a true fall evening with much cooler temps and lower humidity....finally! It is glorious! Our lives are back to normal! I like the term you used in your post, "Glorious Season"! For me, October and the first half of November are indeed glorious! Fishing takes on a different character but the joy is still full and complete!
Thank you so very much for these wonderful pictures of the changing of the seasons! It's beautiful! Keep them coming for sure!

Doug the photos are from last October. One stream is the "Family Secret" and the other my home water.
October and early November are spectacular here...fish are hungry, and the cool weather puts one in a good frame of mind.
I'm ALL IN for fall Alan..It is by far my favorite season..nothing like autumn fishing..colorful trees..colorful fish..and great sleeping weather..will you be in Western Maine this year?

Mike, last reason is one of my favorites.
Again we will not be in Maine this year. We have plans for the southern mountains.
Magnificent. Crisp air, orange & reds in the trees, and beautiful brook trout. Fantastic!

Mike remember those days in PA.
Alan,I would say fall is my favorite time of year with the wonderful colors and great fishing, followed by pa. Deer hunting. Your photos capture that beautifully. That's a great example of a fall brook trout, thanks .

Brad you have it down, fall fishing, and deer hunting.
Two beautiful things to do in the outdoors.
By all means, bring on the Fall of the year. My favorite time of year, beautiful fall colors, the crispness in the air, good food, football, and, best of all, beautiful Trout!

Mel you also mentioned several greats in the "Glorious Season"...I would add a good home made apple pie.
In September/October 1992, my wife, then 18 month old son and I drove through the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee as part of our self drive tour of some of the southern states. The autumn colours were magnificent. Your post brought back some fine memories. Must go again sometime.
DeleteHere in Australia we are now into Spring and this weekend was stream trout opening. I worked on the Sunday of opening day, so my opening day will be today or tomorrow. The trout wont mind.
Cheers and Kind Regards,
Steve.

Steve, the smokies are on my list. The farthest south I've been is Virginia. You must have truly enjoyed that trip.
Wishing you a great Spring season friend.
