An Opportunity Knocked

I have a wonderful opportunity to fish a special conserved area. Tomorrow I shall do just that. The area has some brook trout streams along with the beautiful habitat that comes with the brook trout who do not live in ugly places.

I've been attempting to see this place for some time now...I know it will be good. Report coming.

Fifteen years ago I bought this LL Bean rain jacket in the bargain store at Bean's in Freeport Maine....the other day I retired it.

I bought this LL Bean Trail Model rain jacket..much lighter and has every thing a good jacket should have. Here's to another fifteen years old Bean.

  1. A good waterproof jacket is a must when venturing forth in unpredictable weather. You got good mileage from your old jacket.
Here in OZ I wear Drizabone stockmans oiled rain coats when the weather turns really foul or a lighter oiled japara hiking jacket when it's just a little inconvenient.
LL Bean make some decent outdoor attire. A few years ago I came across an LL Bean heavy woolen/tweedy coat at a thrift store that sadly was too small for me. A pity as it had plenty of pockets and would have been a great fishing/hunting jacket.
Pouring rain outside, dont think I'll be fishing today. I'd like to get out on a few streams before our trout streams close in early June. Maybe Friday.
    Kind Regards,
    Steve.

Steve Bean's has an excellent reputation for quality goods. Most times anything I've purchased from them has been above what was stated. June, must be coming into autumn down under. I hope you get that last shot at trout fishing.

  4. Alan, like your choice in updated Rain coats. With so many Cabela's outlets out my way, seems LL Bean, doesn't get fair attention from me. Look forward to your blog post on fishing during this unique opportunity.

Mel we are fortunate to have both of them here locally. Cabela's has some fine outdoor products..glass rods in particular.

Ralph I love lightweight stuff. I believe that layering is better than bulk. It's a great wind-breaker to.

I would think you may get more than 15 years out of that rain jacket--shoot for 20 or more---looking forward to the new stream post. Thanks for sharing
