Yesterday

As kids we are bombarded by more information than at times we are able to process. Everything from learning to read and write and count to ten. We have to tie our shoes, watch before you cross the street, and don't drink that, it's not good for you. Well you get the point. But there are things that we remember and file them away and they are never forgotten. These memories come full front when we see something from out of our past, and they are as clear as the day we first encountered them.

Such was the case with these cookies. This simple windmill shaped hard cookie was my favorite as a kid. I used to go with my mom to the Grants department store on Main St. and purchase them. They were sold in bulk so you could buy one or as many as you would like.

Cheerio's with bananas is another favorite. They are pretty much the same as they were years ago.

Wonder Bread. It helps build bodies eight ways. That was one of the commercials I remember. I know that there are much better choices for bread, but none better for a PB&J or a Fluffernutter sandwich. So as a kid I always looked for the red, yellow and blue balloons on the wrapper.

Marshmallow Fluff. This was a staple for me, and my kids and now my grandkids. This sticky, sweet pleasure has been in more lunch boxes and been a great late night snack for millions. I remember Monday Night Football, with Howard Cosell, Fluffernutters were always there.

It's great to be a kid, and an adult who remembers to be a kid.
