In the spirit of the season "Small Stream Reflections" is giving away this Rangeley Style streamer. It was designed and tied by myself. All that is required for winning it is to give it a name. I will decide the winning name. The contest will end at midnight Sunday, 9, 2012.

I can see that hanging from my tree... It's too good looking to be in a fishes mouth. Another great looking feathered creation!
ReplyDelete"A Gift of Christmas" or "The Season of Swing"
ReplyDeleteGreat looking fly! You should tie another, but, on the head, add a green ring instead of the traditional Rangely Red thread ring :)

ReplyDeleteUnder glass or in the water "The Red Baron" is an outstanding pattern. Great Photography!! Thanks for sharing

ReplyDeletebeautiful fly, i would call it "The Christmas Cardinal"
ReplyDeleteI'd call "Christmas Belle"
ReplyDelete"Tannenbaum"
ReplyDeleteAs in the German "O Tannenbaum" or "Oh Christmas Tree".
DeleteI'll throw my hat (suggestion) into the ring as well... "Connecticut Sleigh Ride" Beautiful fly as always!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool there! I like it!
DeleteThanks Bill. I figured since Alan lives in Conn.(New England) it would be similar to a "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" except it would be a trout going for a ride and not a bunch of whalers in a boat. And sleigh ride can serve double duty with the holidays. There many great names posted here he is going to have a very hard time deciding!
DeleteI thought someone would be ahead of me, but I dub it the "Christmas Tree".
ReplyDeleteIn the spirit of the creator, his heritage and the fly, my choice is Buon Natale.
ReplyDeleteI would like to vote for the "Saint Nick" or "Father Christmas". While he may not be the patron saint of fishermen, he would be fitting for the holiday season and the fact that today Dec 6 is Saint Nicolas Day (or so wikipedia tells me).
ReplyDeleteNever posted before, but love your blog. I blog more about birding but dabbled with tying and fishing flies as a kid. Just this fall I hired a guide to take my brother out for his birthday and had a blast in a tail water stream with wild browns and rainbows. When I returned, I quickly became obsessed with the idea of the native brookies. I loved learning about the New England fishing and brookies and was disappointed to learn most good fresh water fly fishing is a good jaunt from the Boston Area. Anyway I love your stories of wildlife and wilderness with great pictures to match.
The "Christmas Spirit" or the "Spirit of Christmas". Even Rudolph had a red nose!

ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of good suggestions here, you will have a tough time deciding. I looked at the colors and being a musician immediately thought of the Christmas Carol - "the Holly and the Ivy" so I would suggest "Holly and Ivy"
"Lil" St.Nick, The Christmas Sleigher, or Father Christmas
ReplyDeleteNot sure if double dipping is ok... but just in case:
ReplyDelete"The Ornament"
