This may be my last post...blogger stinks.

Another grand day in Brook Trout Forest. Be it the weather was not the best, at least the rain was pretty much held in check, and with cooler air temps those pesky little flying critters were at bay. As I approached the stream and gazed about I could see the greenery was progressing nicely. There were fiddleheads sprouting, and for some that's "yummy". On a sad note the trillium seems to be dying off but a few bright flowers were there.

What's Spring in "Brook Trout Forest" without trillium.

I took some video of brook trout rising to my dry fly in this pool. There must have been 3-4 guys whacking the fly. I managed to poke a few and even one to hand.

A colorful little guy. The brook trout are in various colors now. Typical for this time of year.

Stream flowing at almost peak condition.

Another color, almost pale. The one thing that was noticed today was the feel of the water, it was darn cold to touch. I placed a thermometer in the stream and was surprised how cold it was.

Wonderful times again, brook trout ,cold water, dry flies...simplicity at its best.

  1. Yes it was a good day to be out and about on the streams. Very nice Brk Trt. Yes the forest is beginning to green up all around us now!! It is also good to see the water temps are nice and cold.

  4. "This may be my last post...Blogger stinks." Most importantly, I will echo what has been previously said. A day without Small Stream Reflections is a beautiful Spring day without fish! Alan, I think you stole that line from me. It seems like Blogger, IE; Google has lost that lovin' feeling. I highly recommend that if you switch services, think two or three times before signing up with Google Domains unless you've got a lot more skill and patience than I've got. It still takes anywhere from 1 day to 4 days for a new post of mine to show up on people's blogrolls. In case you don't know, Google owns almost everything. Go for what they don't own.

  5. I hope not Alan... I think a lot of us would miss your posts. Hopefully google will work out whatever BS there is (I had some problems a year ago and I sent error reports galore and they were fixed within a week) and we can all go along with our lives.

  12. I'm going to try to give an answer to this as best I can.
I do love posting my adventures both on the streams, the woodlands, as well as those nice memories of family life, and life in general.
But there are those times when high speed technology just plain sucks. Yesterday I got very frustrated at something I had very little control in. I should have accepted it and moved on. Well I couldn't and I had to vent. After doing so I felt good but also a bit bummed out. So I told myself it's over and now that it's out I feel better.

I hope to continue posting, and I hope you'll continue to read.
    Thanks,
    Alan

  13. Keep on posting, Alan. If you give up on Blogger, we will all follow you on Wordpress. I'm stuck here for good. Too lazy to convert.

  14. Yes, keep posting. Without you I would not know of the bomber, catcher of 10 inch brookies and 20 inch rainbows here in va. Priceless!

  15. There are alternatives to Blogger. Wordpress, Tumblr, and even Facebook are good choices. Wordpress can be a bit clunky with the add ons. What about going the old fashioned route: PRINT. I could use some new coffee table books.

I think all of us at one time or another has had problems with blogger. I started having problems last year. The most frustrating thing I have experienced is not being able to receive my post respond through my email anymore. Now I have to click the display link on my blogger page which will transfer me to my dashboard page and then select comments to see if anyone has committed on my post. At first it was very worrisome to do that but now I’ve accepted that is the way I must check my comments. In other words for all the little annoying things I’ve experience with blogger; I would still be better off using it as opposed to basically starting over with my blog somewhere else. At my age the simpler I can keep blogger the better for me. I know blogger isn’t perfect but hang in there, and continue to turn out those great post we all enjoy, we would certainly miss you. So impressed with the stream you were fishing—thanks for sharing

  17. Hi Alan, I could not suggest one blog format from another - just don't know much about them. I do know I enjoy your blog very much and look for your new posts. Your blog is often just what the doctor ordered and gives me something to smile about the rest of the day. Keep it up please and I am sorry it is frustrating at times.

  18. Hope you keep the blog alive; it's a good one that I enjoy very much. I haven't had any problems with my blog...but that, of course, could change. I think I'd get my own website in that case. Something to think about.
