Love, Flyfishing, Chili, and Others

Thursday evening Jeanette and I were treated to a wonderful show put on by our grand children and the students of the school they attend.
A Celebration of Children's Art. The hand made offerings were outstanding, and you could see the love put into every piece.
The items were at auction and we were fortunate to be the highest bidders on these birdhouses of Morgan and Ethan.

Everything Grows With Love.

Seeing this is a fly fishing blog I thought I put in something so related.
Another fine book written by Fran Betters. This one is not a how to book but a where to go book. There's a great deal of valuable info in its pages. And even if one never visits the Adirondacks it's still a joy to read about them.

Frans book and a few of his patterns. Two "Bombers" and a "Haystack" well almost.
It has a few different materials. I'm going to fish this fly and I'll let you know how it does.

My love for Chili is almost a great as Pasta and fly fishing.
I picked this blend up recently and I'm going to try it soon. It has to be good, just look at the name.

What else needs to be said.

My 200th, Thanks

When I started this blog a little over a year ago I never thought it would be this rewarding. This will be my 200th post.
I have written about everything from fishing, fly tying, food, and about family. Small streams and wild trout, the beautiful places I have found them, from mountain freestone to slow meandering streams.
I am not a gifted writer who can say a lot of what I feel into words, so I try to put those feelings into photos instead.
I have enjoyed telling you of my times on the waters, and along the waters. I hope you have enjoyed reading of these. I will continue to try to provide you with my best.
Thank you.

Below are some photos of a few past posts.

A pristine natural environment...... where wild trout live.

Beautiful wild trout

Jeanette, a wife, mother, and a friend. She has accompanied me on so many of my adventures. She has bushwhacked, camped, got rained on, snowed on, chased away black bears, black flies, and so much more. I have enjoyed her company.
She is also a staunch supporter of wild trout.

I have been tying flies for a few years. These two streamers are from the starting point.
They are named for my two grandchildren, to commemorate their birth.
The fly on the right is my first streamer, "Morgans Fancy" it was tied about 10 years ago. The streamer on the left is "Ethans Special" tied 8 years ago.

These are what I consider the best dry fly for wild trout. "The Ausable Bomber".
This fly has accounted for more wild trout than any other fly I fish.

A wild brook trout, a native to my state of Connecticut. He will always be my number 1.

As my granddaughter Morgan once said when asked what do you like better.... big trout, or little trout. She quickly replied...... lil trout.

Springtime 2010, Revisited

This is a small wild brook trout stream in Connecticut. It's a freestone typical of New England. It holds a good population of wild brookies who seem to never dissapoint me. While they are not fussy about what they will dine on, so fly patterns don't matter much, they can be very wary of whats going on streamside and will scatter if something's not right. Once the alarm bell is sounded, forget that piece of water for a spell and move on.

I fish dry flies most of the time on these dainty little waters, the Ausable Bomber being the number 1 fly. I protect these wild streams like my bank account, and treat them with respect.

This guy might have been selective that day, a reversed tied emerger is what he wanted
